Can Derek Jeter break Pete Rose's hits record?

Pete Rose has more hits than any other man who ever played professional baseball.

He finished his long career with 4,256 hits, surpassing the immortal Ty Cobb.

Derek Jeter has now played fourteen seasons with the New York Yankees and is generally recognized as one of the best players and best hitters of his era.

I have long been intrigued thinking of the comparisons of these two men on the field (Off the field there is no comparison.)

Exclusive: Ralph Nader on Politics, Tim Donaghy, and Sports in America

(c) 2009 The Sports Courier

Ralph Nader is a former Presidential candidate and one of the most prominent politicians of his generation, but no one would know it. While he is cool, calm, collected, and always sharply dressed, Nader is essentially what all politicians are not—aware, concerned, and for the people.

No more baseball for Nomar

Nomar Garciaparra, whose career tailed off because of injuries after leaving the Boston Red Sox, retired after 14 seasons in Major League Baseball on Wednesday.

He signed a one-day contract with the Red Sox before heading for the TV studio."My tank's empty," Garciaparra said at a news conference in Fort Myers, FL, shown on MLB.com "It wouldn't have felt like a retirement if I couldn't have put this uniform on one more time."

Boston Red Sox 2010 Outlook

Will the additions of John Lackey, Adrian Beltre, Marco Scutaro, and Mike Cameron help the Boston Red Sox overtake the Yankees in the AL East this Major League Baseball season?

Metropolitan Injuries

The New York Mets are going to attempt to recover from an abysmal fourth place 2009 campaign in the NL East of which was filled with injuries to key position players. The Mets’ 2010 Spring training is going to be focusing on staying healthy as well as keeping consistent throughout the season.

The main athlete on the injury watch is SS Jose Reyes. Although he played well in 2008 with a .297 average and 57 stolen bases, he only played 36 games during the 2009 season due to an injury.

Yankees Throwdown for the Fifth Spot

The New York Yankees have made a lot of noise this year during the offseason with their moves readjusting the outfield with OF Curtis Granderson and OF Randy Winn.

The real "throwdown" will happen at Legends Field in Tampa, Florida.

New York Mets 2010 Outlook

Last season was a very disappointing season for the New York Mets who suffered through a multitude of injuries. Can they make a run in the NL East this year?

Would Nolan Ryan be a good MMA fighter?

Nolan Ryan would probably be a good MMA fighter at his current age. As Matt Mitrione points out he kicked Robin Ventura’s ass when he was playing for the Rangers in his mid-40’s. Big Tex would take a couple of Advil, step in the cage and be good to go.
