Breaking news: Kelly to coach Notre Dame

From the Chicago Sun-Times:

Brian Kelly will be the next Notre Dame coach, The South Bend Tribune reported today.

The Tribune cited two university sources familiar with the search process that confirmed the hiring of Kelly, currently the Cincinnati coach.

Kelly is expected to meet with his team Thursday night before the Bearcats' football banquet to inform them of his decision. The media were suddenly banned from the banquet Thursday afternoon.

Irish fall to inspired UConn in Double-OT

Notre Dame suffered its fifth and worst loss of the season today, falling 33-30 to a .500 UConn Huskies squad on the Irish's Senior Day. UConn had lost their three previous games following the death of star cornerback Jasper Howard, who was murdered over three weeks ago. The reeling Huskies were able to come into South Bend and put a stake through the heart of Irish head coach Charlie Weis's coaching tenure at the Catholic University.
