David Reutimann wins his second race in Chicago

There is no more black cloud over David Reutimann, who has won only one race, which was a shortened rain race in Charlotte. The media said it was a fluke and he would never win again, but Reutimann proved them wrong and won in Chicago on Sunday. Reutimann passed Jeff Gordon with laps to go to take his second win and for Michael Waltrip Racing.

After the race, David Reutimann has signed a new contract with Michael Waltrip Racing.

In front of 95,000, Denny Hamlin and his No. 11 FedEx Ground Toyota won the HELUVA GOOD! SOUR CREAM DIPS 400, his 13th victory in 166 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. This is his fifth victory and seventh top-10 finish in 2010. Hamlin's five victories are a single-season career high. His previous high was four wins, last season. This is also Hamlin's first victory and fifth top-10 finish in nine races at Michigan International Speedway.

OK. I am a little bitter because this is the second week in a row Jeff Gordon had the race won with one lap to go, but Ryan Newman claimed an unexpected first victory of the season, beating Gordon on the final restart at Phoenix International Raceway.

NASCAR: Losing money and fans

NASCAR's days of steady growth are over. TV ratings are off and ticket sales have slumped. Many longtime fans say that NASCAR has lost its essence and personality as the sport's top brass have chased more exposure by going mainstream. A few years ago, NASCAR was the second-most-watched sport after the NFL, but with its 60th season approaching—NASCAR's popularity may be waning.

I don't know if I can take Jimmie Johnson winning anymore....He is a beast, and I am a die hard Jeff Gordon fan! Gordon led 219 laps and I got sick when he got passed at the end. Another race, another victory for Jimmie Johnson and yet another round of talk about the NASCAR Sprint Cup champion's success.

Kevin Harvick wins 2010 Budweiser Shootout

The first action in NASCAR took place this past Saturday at the Bud Shootout. I was amazed to see an action-packed race, especially when it didn't count for points. The winner of this raise would take home a $200,000 purse, so I guess that gives them more fuel to add to the fire!!!

Kevin Harvick overcame a bout with the flu and a wrecked race car to earn his second consecutive victory in the exhibition Budweiser Shootout on Saturday night.

Well, that time of the year has hit us once again. Can you hear the engines revving up and ready to go?

The official NASCAR 2010 season is set to begin in a week and I can honestly say I can not wait! I have been a diehard racing fan for many years, and for the last four years i have seen a driver who I can say is now one of our all time greats Jimmy Johnson just crush the competition being the first to win four straight titles in NASCAR history.
