The Los Angeles Lakers are currently on their quest to repeat as champions. Alpha dog Kobe Bryant looks to win his fifth ring this year, which would move him past Tim Duncan and his old buddy Shaq. Kobe's ego and competitive spirit would love the fact that he would have one more ring than those two.

The question that lingers is the following. Can anyone beat the Lakers in the Western Conference and what does it take to beat them?

Ah, it's my favorite time of the basketball season that's not the playoffs. NBA All-Star Weekend is upon us and I couldn't be excited enough. Yes, LeBron James WON'T be competing in the Slam Dunk Contest and Kobe Bryant has pulled out of the All-Star Game, but let's look at the positives!

Breaking News: Oden likely done for season

I posted a report earlier about Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden getting stretchered off the court, after colliding with Aaron Brooks in transition midway through the first quarter in a game versus the Houston Rockets.

The Associated Press is now reporting Oden is likely done for the year with a fractured patella. The Trail Blazers said Oden will undergo surgery.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden was taken off the court on a stretcher after an apparent knee injury in the first quarter of the Trail Blazers' game against the Houston Rockets on Saturday night.
