Acid Fest 2 Report (Trent Acid wrestling tribute show)

Long live Trent Acid...

By Referee Jimmy Dylan

The 2nd Annual Acid Fest was held at the world famous Asylum Arena (FKA the ECW Arena) on Sunday, July 10, 2011. Fans from all over turned out to pay tribute to the late, great Trent Acid...the "King of Philly"!!!! Also on hand were a host of Superstars from all corners of the wrestling world, who joined Trent's family and friends in attendance to pay homage & rememberance to Trent Acid...and to do what he loved to do best...entertain the fans!!!

While I may not have known Trent closely, I will always remember the man that won the hearts of many fans locally and world wide. The very first time I ever bled in the business was the result of a Trent Acid match. We were playing the Electric Factory in Philadelphia last March at ICP's BOOM BOOM POW tour! The crowd was packed to the gills to see the Juggalos put on a show like only they can do. I was a part of an entourage that accompanied the mighty Nigerian Nightmares to the ring for their match against the JCW World Tag Team champions. Trent had been involved in an Ultraviolent explosion earlier in the night, and we would follow. What I didn't take into account before heading through the curtain is the building was dark and it was unlikely that the ringside area had been cleaned properly. For those of you that's seen any of Trent Acid's matches...you know it couldn't have ended well for anyone walking to the ring barefoot afterwards! (smiles) But there's no complaints as we take our licks with pride in this business. Thank you Trent!

The event got under way just after the 4pm scheduled start time, and the fans were off on a wild ride. The show began with all of the wrestlers appearing on the show coming to the ring to remember Trent. Melissa Sampson, who organized the event and competed later in the afternoon, opened the program by thanking everyone for coming out and supporting the cause. She also made mention to another great wrestler that the world recently lost too soon, Justin "JT" Roberts of the tag team N.I.4.N.I. Everyone then rose for a 10 bell salute to our fallen stars. Missy then introduced Trent's family and friends who were sitting ringside as well as in the Eagles Nest at the Arena. She then joined a few of the talent in attendance, including Homicide, to share in a few memories of Trent Acid! After that the event kicked off and below is a list of the matches that took place and who was victorious.

The locker room again emptied with everyone involved in putting the show together for one last tribute to the "King of Philly". The crowd applauded them all as Missy Sampson thanked everyone for attending and working. Special moments were shared amongst the wrestlers, family, friends, and fans to close what was an extraordinary event. Fans can add me on Facebook (Jimmy Dylan) to see the complete photo album from the event. I really enjoyed myself, and can honestly see Acid Fest becoming a major event at the historic South Philadelphia venue for many years to come!!! R.I.P. Trent Acid...GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!!!!
