Beckham's World Cup dream over
England soccer superstar David Beckham's hopes of a 2010 World Cup appearance are all but gone after suffering an Achilles injury in an AC Milan game last Sunday.
According to ESPN and The Associated Press, David Beckham's left Achilles tendon was completely torn. Dr. Sakari Orava who performed the surgery said the England midfielder is expected to be out of action for about six months.
This is a devastating occurrence for Beckham, vying to become the first English player to participate in four World Cups.
Say what you want about his overhyped ads, image, etc. The man was genuinely heartbroken after suffering this injury. Playing the World Cup meant everything to him. If that doesn't show detractors his true colors, I don't know what will.
