UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones had his license suspended for six months on Tuesday and was fined $1,000 for a driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge he received back on May 19.
Jones crashed his car into a pole and had two female passengers with him. Both suffered minor injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of DWI following the crash.
He is also ordered to pay $6563.32 for the damage he caused to the pole.
"I made a major mistake, a mistake that I apologize for and definitely acknowledge,” Jones told reporters, as per pressconnects.com. “(I’m) paying the consequences for my mistakes, and I just wanted to say thank you to Broome County and the people that support me most.”
Jones will have to install ignition interlocks and complete a victim-impact panel with 90 days.
The 24-year-old extended addressed the DWI case via Twitter:
Blessed to still have the full support of Broom County/ all my fans and my DWI case officially behind me. Moving forward
