Original Report 2/20/12: The injury bug has abruptly bitten WWE's top stars yet again.
This time it's not Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Christian, or Alberto Del Rio that's the victim, but Wade Barrett, who suffered an apparent broken arm on Monday Night RAW.
During the main event 10-man battle royal to decide who faces CM Punk at WrestleMania XXVIII, Barrett was eliminated by Santino Marella and seemed to have landed alright. However, when Dolph Ziggler was launched onto the outside by Big Show, he landed hard onto Barrett--seriously injuring his arm--to the point he had to have medical attention for awhile at ringside. The wrestlers in the ring as well as the commentators (Punk included) were all visibly concerned for Barrett.
Ziggler also looked to be hurt after being thrown out, as his arm and head landed hard on the announce table.
According to F4WOnline.com, Marella may have landed on Barrett's broken arm when he was eliminated--but those aforementioned injuries weren't the only ones occurring during the main event.
Kofi Kingston had to alter his landing to avoid a potentially ugly collision with Ziggler's valet Vickie Guerrero but seemed alright. R-Truth had to be helped to the back. And Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes seemed to be nursing a thigh/hamstring injury and was visibly limping throughout the match.
Obviously, with all those superstars banged up from one match alone, combined with Orton, Henry, and Del Rio still nursing injuries, the road to WrestleMania XXVIII may be bumpier than WWE could have expected. Perhaps, there's something to be said for having the all those wrestlers compete the next night following the physically grueling Elimination Chamber matches? Just a thought.
