According to UFC.com, two-time lightweight title challenger Gray Maynard (11-1-1, 1 NC) will take on Joe Lauzon (22-7) at UFC 155 on Dec. 29.

Lauzon is coming off an exciting win over former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner on Aug. 4, in Fight of The Year candidate and by far, the greatest fight in UFC on FOX history. Maynard, on the other hand, beat Clay Guida via split decision in a lackluster affair in June that saw his opponent refuse to seriously engage in action for 25 minutes.

A win for Maynard or Lauzon, especially if it is in exciting fashion, could put them in title contention. The title picture has always eluded Lauzon in his UFC career, but that can all change on Dec. 29.
