Bantamweight bout: Miesha Tate vs. Julie Kedzie

Round One: 

This is our prelims main event. Great, so instead of putting this on the main card, I have to watch future legends Lumumba Sayers and Anthony Smith duke it out. OK then. Tate is now called "Cupcake." Not sure why, but maybe she likes baking. Kedzie is most famous for fighting Gina Carano years back in the first cable televised women's MMA bout. 

Referee is Jason Herzog. They immediately stand and trade. Shouldn't Tate be working for the takedown, based on her great wrestling credentials. Big head kick by Kedzie. Tate hurt. Right hook by Kedzie. Leg kick by Tate. Tate presses Kedzie against the cage. Kedzie reverses position. Short elbow by Kedzie. They break. Tate shoots for the takedown. Defended by Kedzie. North-south position. Kedzie nearly got her back. They're back on the feet. Tate goes for the takedown. Sprawl by Kedzie. Kedzie doesn't stop firing some shots. Kedzie gets back up.

She clips Tate on our way up. Spinning heel kick grazes Tate. Overhand right by Tate. Tate gets the takedown, but Kedzie springs right back up. She clinches Tate against the fence. They break. High kick blocked. Kedzie stuffs Tate's takedown attempt. They're back up. Sidekick to the body drops Tate. Kedzie nearly gets caught in the triangle and an armbar, but rolls out and survives, even when Tate briefly gets full mount. She's saved by the bell as Tate wasn't letting go. Awesome round. 

10-9 Kedzie 

Round Two: 

Jab by Kedzie. Jab by Tate. They clinch. Body kick by Kedzie. Kedzie presses Tate against the cage. Thai plumb clinch. Knees and short elbow strikes by Kedzie. Tate is able to take her down, but Kedzie attempts an omoplata shoulder lock. Tate eats some short elbows. Ranallo points out that's the arm injured badly by Ronda Rousey in Tate's last fight. Tate trying to take Kedzie's back. She drags her down and does. She's got her hooks in. Tate locks the rear naked choke. Kedzie moves her back on the mat. Full mount by Tate. She's trying to get the side choke. Half guard.
