UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II

The previously undefeated Izquierdo searches for his first UFC win, after losing to Reza Madadi back in April on a FUEL TV event. Oliveira also looks for his first win in his second stint with the company. The last time Oliveira was victorious inside the Octagon was in a win over John Gunderson back in March 2010. With two straight losses, his job is definitely on the line--not that Izquierdo is exactly safe with a loss either.

Lightweight bout: Rafaello Oliveira (15-5) def. Yoislandy Izquierdo (6-2) via unanimous decision (29-28 across the board). 

Oliveira gets a much-needed second UFC win after losing two straight prior to this fight. 

Preliminary Card on FX (8pm/ET)

Lightweight bout: Shane Roller (10-6) vs. John Alessio (34-15)

Round One: 

The fight starts standing. No takedown attempt by Roller. Roller comes hard at Alessio. Alessio returns the favor. Body kick by Roller hits Alessio in the sack of pinballs. Rogan notes that the MGM Grand is packed and it's only the second fight. Cue the Rogan cup lecture. They resume the action after a couple of minutes. Roller doing a good job covering up. Roller dives for the takedown, but misses by mile. Jabs by both fighters. Front kick by Roller misses. Alessio presses Roller up against the cage. They break. Roller has knockout power when he connects. 

Uppercut by Roller. Alessio tags and knocks down Roller. Side control. Roller does a good job of holding Alessio after the knock down. 

10-9 Alessio 

Round Two:

Jabs by Alessio. Leg kick by Roller. They trade combos. Another leg kick by Roller. Alessio presses Roller against the cage. Guillotine attempt by Roller. Alessio escapes. Alessio gets back to his feet, but is taken down by Roller. Full guard. Half guard. Roller trying to advance. Roller trying to go for a rear naked choke. Dominating Alessio on the ground. Body triangle now. Brutal elbows by Roller on Alessio. Alessio trying to roll back up. Roller now has his back against the cage with the body triangle still on Alessio. Alessio survives to advance to Round Three.

10-9 Roller

Round Three:

This is anyone's fight now. Combo by Alessio. He rocks Roller and ties up Roller against the cage. High knee by Alessio. They break. Big looping right by Roller grazes Alessio. Takedown by Roller. Alessio back up to his feet. Takedown again. Body triangle. Roller has his back. Roller working for the rear naked choke again. Both on the ground against the cage now. Alessio asking Roller if he wants to ride him. Get up, Mr. Alessio. Alessio is now eating hard shots as Roller tries to sink that choke in. Alessio rolls out, but Roller has a body triangle and his back. So much for talking shit and backing it up...
