Lightweight bout: Joe Lauzon (21-7) vs. Jamie Varner (20-6-1)

Varner replaces the injured Terry Etim and has a chance to go 2-0 in his UFC/Zuffa comeback.

Round One:

Lauzon is coming off of a knockout loss to Anthony Pettis. Left hook to the body by Varner. Another body shot by Varner. Head body combo by Varner. B kick by Varner as Lauzon comes forward. Right hand stumbles Lauzon. Lauzon clinches and knees Varner in the head. Stumbles Varner. Flying knee by Varner. Elbow. Lauzon covered up well. Combo grazes Varner. Varner hits a body kick. Nice shots by Varner, but Lauzon covered up. Body shot by Lauzon. They tie up and break.

Body shot by Varner. Lauzon coming forward, testing Varner's cardio, who is fighting on short notice. Right hand by Lauzon. Another right. Varner tags Lauzon and knocks him down. On the ground, Lauzon tried to lock the submission. Lauzon rolls onto his knees and eats a couple knees to the body before being saved by the bell. 

10-9 Varner

Round Two:

Leg kick by Varner. Combo by Varner, but Lauzon covers up. Lauzon tries to corner him, but Varner eludes his strikes. Combo by Varner. Lauzon checks two leg kicks. Lauzon briefly tripped up. Combo. Body shot, clinch and knee by Varner. Lauzon protecting himself well. Varner tries to take him down. Can't get it. Varner gets taken down by Lauzon. Varner locks in the guillotine, but Lauzon on top. Uh-oh. He has Varner's back. Varner Stands up and riks getting choked out. And Varner escapes the hold. Body shots by Varner. Lauzon pressing forward. This is a FIGHT. 

Varner looks exhausted and gets taken down. Lauzon on top. Varner gets back up, but Lauzon drags him down with hooks down. Varner gets back up, but is dragged down again. Nearly gets caught in the rear naked choke. Lauzon now transitions on top for a arm triangle choke. He can't get it. Attempts an armbar. Varner escapes and ends up on top. Elbows by Varner. Round over. THIS IS A FIGHT! 

10-9 Lauzon - Maybe even a 10-8

Round Three:

Varner pauses the action and says he forgot to put in his mouthpiece. They both laugh it off and resume action when Varner gets his mouthpiece. Varner shoots for the takedown and can't get it. Jab by Lauzon. Power double leg takedown by Varner. Varner is on top. Half guard. Lauzon sweeps up. Combo by Lauzon, who covers up. Short elbows to Lauzon's head.
