WWE Capitol Punishment buyrate info

How did the Washington, DC show do?

Update 8/3/11: According to Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE did 90,000 buys outside of North America--meaning the company had the lowest buys in its core region ever.

As of right now, the estimated buyrates for post-WrestleMania PPVs this year are as follows (official report will be released Aug. 4):

Extreme Rules: 200,000

Over The Limit: 155,000

Capitol Punishment: 173,000

Via Meltzer: This would put Over the Limit, with about 77,000 domestic buys, as the third lowest total in modern company history, trailing only the 2006 December to Dismember show (55,000) and the 2010 Bragging Rights show (71,000), the latter coming the day after the Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez fight.

The numbers for Capitol Punishment would at least be up year-over-year, a rarity, with a 9.5% increase worldwide but a 5.7% decrease domestically from the June 2010 PPV, Fatal Four Way, that did 158,000 worldwide and 88,000 domestic.

According to WrestlingObserver.com, preliminary estimates for WWE Capitol Punishment PPV are about 173,000 buys worldwide and 83,000 domestic buys. Not great by any means.

The show was headlined by John Cena vs. R-Truth, which built Truth up as a midcarder that had no chance of winning.

BUYS.
