WWE Championship Chicago Street Fight: CM Punk (C) vs. Chris Jericho
The last time Punk was in a PPV main event in Chicago was last year's epic Money in The Bank show July 2011. Huge ovation. They both come out in jeans ready to STREET FIGHT. Physical match. Hot crowd. There was one spot in the match where Punk's sister threw a drink in Jericho's face. Nice touch.
They use chairs, kendo sticks, steel chairs, etc. Entertaining, yet borderline sloppy with GTS attempts and a really bad looking Codebreaker that saw Jericho pause for a few seconds. Jericho tries to submit Punk with the Walls. Punk escapes by hitting him with a fire extinguisher. He knocks Jericho onto the announcers' table. Punk aims for a flying elbow. Punk almost slipped before.
You know Punk's sloppy flying elbow smash? It looked even sloppier mid-air, in slow motion. But cool spot nonetheless. They roll back to the ring. Kick out by Jericho. Anaconda Vice by Punk. Jericho grabs the kendo stick and breaks the hold with it. And breaks Punk's head. Light "This is Awesome" chant. Codebreaker with a steel chair. Kick out by Punk. Crowd chants for Punk. He beats him with the kendo stick. Jericho picks up Punk by his obnoxiously greasy hair and gives a GTS. Well tried. Punk countered and slingshoted him into the corner. GTS by Punk. Pinfall.
Winner and still WWE Champion: CM Punk
