WWE Championship: CM Punk (C) def Daniel Bryan via pinfall.

Split crowd with dueling chants and all. And yes, YES YES YES chants! Punk and Bryan trade various submission holds. Cole says Bryan knows like a hundred. Really? Dean Malenko knew a thousand. Assuming you kids are old enough to know who he is. They play up the assault by Kane on Punk last Smackdown. Way to get your revenge on Kane, Punk. Or Kevin Nash. Some champion. Had to go kayfabe for a sec. There's one painful looking spot where Bryan fishhooks Punk while teasing a Mexican stretch. He locked in the Mexican stretch and screams YES! Now it's a Mexican Stretch into an elevated surfboard. Then he transitions to a Dragon Sleeper, but Punk slips out.

Crowd isn't reacting too much, but that's because WWE miseducates their audience. No Ross, no Regal, no Taz, and even remotely at times, no Striker, go a long way in announcer credibilty. They trade more kicks than players in a soccer match. Corny I know. Punk goes for Go To Sleep but it's reversed. YES LOCK reversed. Bryan is thrown out of the ring, but skins the cat. Mirko Cro Cop head kick by Punk. Bryan gets his foot on the ropes. I like how they're letting these guys have a lot of time. Too bad the WWE Championship plays second fiddle for the fifth PPV in a row. It's almost like whoever's champ is a lameduck champ because of John Cena's non-title matches overtaking top billing. Although, you can't argue with ratings and money. But then wouldn't it just make sense to give Cena the title?

Sorry for the suggestion. Here's something of note: Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman haven't been mentioned AT ALL thus far. Wow. Bryan gets Punk in the YES LOCK. Punk rolls Bryan on his back. Three count was counted, but Punk also tapped. Close match. Great match. Leaves room open for the rematch. Unfortunately, the replay shows Punk tapped after the three count. Not sure if that was by design or a botch. Awesome match either way. AJ Lee didn't play a factor in this match at all. Crowd reacts indifferently. Thought the pop would be bigger. Guess they didn't want it to end.

Winner and still WWE Champion: CM PUNK
