WWE Friday Night Smackdown on SyFy

Taped for January 13, 2012

Laredo, Texas

1. Daniel Bryan and Mark Henry jaw-jacked for a bit. Henry is banned from ringside for tonight's main event, despite it being no DQ, as per Smackdown GM Teddy Long. He campaigned for a World Heavyweight Title match for next week.

2. Justin Gabriel def. Heath Slater in a battle of former Nexus/Corre tag team partners. I think Drew McIntyre has even won more often than Slater the last six months....Hornswoggle distracted Slater before the finish. Huh? Gabriel needs the Leprechaun to win matches?

3. WWE Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes def. Ezekiel Jobber Jackson.

4. Ted DiBiase def. Drew McIntyre. The dreaded losing streak gimmick continues. Hunico was on commentary....But didn't he beat DiBiase already?

5. Sheamus killed Jinder Mahal to the surprise of NO ONE. And Mahal is apparently in the Royal Rumble? Future Endeavor that man, Big Johnny.

6. Brodus Clay aka Funkasaurus def. Tyson Kidd.

7. David Otunga, Attorney at Law, def. Santino Marella aka the Assistant Smackdown GM. Poor Cobra.

8. Divas: Tamina def. Natalya Neidhart. Again. Who did Nattie piss off.

9. Wade Barrett vs. Sheamus is announced for next week's Smackdown. Barrett says he'll win the Royal Rumble and go on to WrestleMania. Not if Mr. RKO Randy Orton has anything to say about that.

10. No Disqualification match for World Heavyweight Title: Daniel Bryan vs. Big Show went to an apparent no contest. They did an angle where Bryan's girlfriend AJ Lee came out with him, only to get hurt during the action from the Big Show. He accidentally ran into her. Ouch.....They took AJ out on a stretcher. Bryan went off on Show. Show looked heartbroken. This could be yet another building block for a full-blown Bryan heel turn, considering he put his tiny girlfriend in harm's way during a no DQ match with a giant. Makes sense....

The good news for Bryan is he looks to be champion at least until Royal Rumble, where he presumably defend the belt against Show and Henry in a triple threat match. Props to Show and Bryan for being great in their roles, as well as Henry.
