Wow.

That is all an observer can say after USC athletic director Michael Garrett announced the hiring of Lane Kiffin as head coach of the Trojans football team.

The position was made available after head coach Pete Carroll left his job of nine years to travel north and fulfill his fantasy of returning to the league of giant egos and salaries in Seattle.

Maybe the Giants really are THIS bad

The good news: The Denver Broncos (7-4) halt their four game skid with a win at home to put themselves back in the crowded AFC Wild Card race.

The bad news: It's at the expense of the New York Giants (6-5).

Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable said Wednesday that he would bench quarterback JaMarcus Russell for back-up Bruce Gradkowski, formerly of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Cable claims it was an easy decision to make, but in no way meant that he was giving up on the NFL's number one overall draft pick of 2007.

These are 10 sports books that you are never likely to see on the shelves. Not at Barnes and Noble. Not at Borders. Not even at Amazon.

That's never a good thing if you are a person looking for a nice read.

If you are looking for a good read, these books are not for you. If you are looking for a piece of literature equivalent to any kind of logic, these books are not for you.

And if you are looking for these featured pieces of literature on Oprah Book Club, well then these sure as heck are not for you...
