UFC 222: Cyborg vs. Kunitskaya Highlights and Results
Preliminary Card on UFC Fight Pass (FightPass.com)
Welterweights: Zak Ottow def. Mike Pyle via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 2:34. Tough ending for Pyle’s decorated MMA career. At least he’s right to finally walk away.
Bantamweights: Cody Stamann def. Bryan Caraway via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
Light Heavyweights: Jordan Johnson def. Adam Milstead via split decision (29-28, 27-30, 29-28)
Preliminary Card on Fox Sports 1 (FS1) and FoxSportsGo.com
Women’s Strawweights: Mackenzie Dern def. Ashley Yoder via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28). Very close fight, but I personally had Yoder winning. Dern finally getting the takedown and near rear-naked choke finish late in round three sealed the win for her.

Bantamweights: John Dodson def. Pedro Munhoz via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28)
Lightweights: Alexander Hernandez def. Beneil Dariush via knockout (punch) – Round 1, :42. Not a bad debut for a late replacement in their UFC debut.
Middleweights: C. B. Dollaway def. Hector Lombard via disqualification (illegal punches – late hit after the bell) – Round 1, 5:00. Super blatant late hit by Lombard. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to send Mr. Lombard his favorite candy for the sake of my safety.
UFC 222 PPV Card
Women’s Bantamweights: Ketlen Vieira def. Cat Zingano via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28). This should not have been a split decision. Some wacky judging tonight.
Heavyweights: Andrei Arlovski def. Stefan Struve via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27). This was not a good fight, especially while airing head-to-head with the epic Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz boxing classic.
Bantamweights: Sean O’Malley def. Andre Soukhamthath via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-28). O’Malley hurt Soukhamthath early on, but injured his leg and was taken down Round 3. Luckily for him, he weathered the storm for the win and did the post-fight interview with Rogan while on his back.
Featherweight Co-main Event: Brian Ortega def. Frankie Edgar via TKO (punches). Ortega stunned Edgar with a huge stepping elbow, followed by a vicious uppercut to send him to the canvas. Ortega landed a couple hammerfists on Edgar before the referee saw enough. Incredible performance by Ortega that surely earns him a featherweight title shot against Max Holloway.
UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship (Five Rounds): Cris Cyborg (c) def. Yana Kunitskaya via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 3:25 to retain the UFC featherweight title.
