WWE falsely advertised Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey as this episode of Monday Night Raw dragged to a surprising conclusion.
Wrestling Quick Hits:
- “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey was advertised for all WWE Raw episodes leading up to WrestleMania 34. Of course, WWE falsely advertised Rousey for Detroit and pulled her from the show.
- Brock Lesnar was also advertised for Raw and pulled from the show. Again, false advertising.
- WWE is inducting Kid Rock into the Hall of Fame aka a man who has made horribly racial/homophobic/transphobic comments on record.
- WWE honored Indira Gandhi for Women’s History Month, which is also problematic to say the least.
- WWE announced the Fabolous Moolah Memorial Women’s Battle Royal for WrestleMania 34 and hyped Moolah as a legendary trailblazer. Here’s why that’s inaccurate.
Not a great show for a company claiming to be progressive and socially conscious. Not a great show period. On that note…
WWE Raw 3/12/18 Highlights and Results – Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan:
Roman Reigns sounds off on WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar no-showing and Vince McMahon disrespecting him.
Mr. McMahon temporarily suspends Roman Reigns for his comments on Lesnar and WWE because nothing says fiery, badass babyface like taking a punishment like a putz. Once again, a great performer like Reigns is hamstrung by questionable creative direction.
“Rowdy” Ronda Rousey’s Road to WrestleMania 34:
The Ultimate Deletion – Woken Matt Hardy vs. Bray Wyatt is set for next week:
Sasha Banks def. Sonya Deville (with Absolution’s Paige and Mandy Rose). Bayley was at ringside, but left after the win. Banks was left to be attacked by Absolution
Elias’ performance doesn’t go as planned due to injuries:
WWE Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss “applauds” Asuka’s WrestleMania 34 decision to face SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. Bliss is a great heel, but this whole mocking a Japanese person’s English is really out of touch.
Asuka def. Mickie James.
Nia Jax goes on a rampage following Alexa Bliss’ insults accidentally airing on the titantron:
Finn Balor def. Seth Rollins following the two attacking WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz on Miz TV.
John Cena challenges The Undertaker for WrestleMania 34!
Braun Strowman wins Tag Team Battle Royal win by himself to challenge Raw Tag Team Champions The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) at WrestleMania 34. I love most of Strowman’s stuff and enjoyed this, but couldn’t help think this really hurt the tag team division. Then again, Strowman destroyed everyone in Elimination Chamber and four of the guys are in title matches at WrestleMania 34. Cue the speculation for a Samoa Joe return.
Overall, not a great or even good Raw after months of strong shows more often than not. We’ll see if Brock Lesnar finally shows up next week or if WWE will continue to falsely advertise.
On a lighter note, I hope to see some of you at WWE MSG this Friday night!
