Tonight on Monday Night RAW, WWE continues its awkward streak of booking dream matches with little to no build. I guess we should get used to it with football season back in full swing. This week, we get John Cena vs. Braun Strowman in the battle of legend vs. rising star.

Stranger things have happened in WWE lately, but don’t expect a clean finish in this match. Neither Cena or Strowman should be losing before their huge matchups at No Mercy. At No Mercy, Cena will take on Roman Reigns and Strowman challenges Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. Whatever happens in Cena vs. Strowman, this match should be fun while it lasts.

WWE RAW 9/11/17 Results

Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Roman Reigns defeated Jason Jordan. Jordan looked really good for the second straight week in a loss. Crowd is still not behind Jordan, but he is definitely a good wrestler.

After the match, John Cena confronted Reigns and told him as talented as he is, he’s too arrogant — and that makes him vulnerable to get cut down to size. Reigns said WWE is doing just fine without Cena and that he’s selling plenty of tickets. Reigns also said Cena isn’t in demand in Hollywood. Um.. those are outright lies, pal. Cena ends the segment by telling Reigns he’ll flunk the Cena test like he flunked his drug test (in reference to his wellness test failure last year). Reigns smirks as Cena walks away.

Sasha Banks defeated Emma. WWE RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss was on commentary and confronted by Nia Jax. Bliss vs. Jax confirmed for RAW next week.

Big Show is set to undergo hip surgery later this month following Braun Strowman’s attack after their cage match last week.

Bray Wyatt destroys Goldust. Wyatt vs. Balor (not the demon) is an official match at No Mercy.

Paul Heyman and WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar hype No Mercy in the ring. Heyman calls out Strowman, who proceeds to no sell Lesnar’s suplex to the chant of “holy s***!” Strowman destroys Lesnar with a chokeslam and running powerslam. Give this man all the belts!

Elias defeated Kalisto. A marketable and talented guy like Kalisto deserves much better than this. Why isn’t he on 205 Live with other high flyers?

John Cena defeated Braun Strowman by disqualification. Good match while it lasted. Strowman was DQ’ed for slamming Cena on the steel steps. He has definitely been RAW’s MVP this last month.

We get a vignette for ASUKA — Coming Soon!

Miz TV with Enzo Amore. Miz and Maryse legit announce they are having a child! Enzo Amore rudely interrupts their big announcement and proceeds to get buried verbally by Miz. Miz says Enzo went to 205 Live as a demotion because he was kicked out of the locker room and tour buses backstage. Enzo went off on Miz, called him fake, and challenged him to a match.

Enzo Amore defeated WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz via DQ in a non-title match. Enzo talked trash on the mic throughout the match. Miz had enough when Enzo asked Maryse “who’s your daddy?” Miz and Miztourage destroyed Enzo in what clearly seemed like a segment set out to humiliate him. Backstage, WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville laughed like a great comic book villain.

WWE RAW Tag Team Champions Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins and The Hardy Boyz defeated Sheamus, Cesaro, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson in an eight-man tag. This match was setup earlier in the night when The Bar (Sheamus/Cesaro) and The Club (Gallows/Anderson) got into it with Ambrose and Rollins before their match. This was a fun main event with lots of action that saw Rollins get the pin for his team.

Overall, a decent RAW with Braun Strowman continuing to make his case for becoming the next WWE Universal Champion. Strowman comes off such a superstar right now.

On Tuesday night, we have Sin City SmackDown on USA Network at 8pm/ET, Shayna Baszler vs. Kairi Sane in the Mae Young Classic finals on WWE Network at 10pm/ET, and finally, 205 Live following MYC featuring TJP vs. Rich Swann!
