WWE SmackDown Live 4-17-18 Highlights + Results: 2018 Superstar Shake-up Night 2

WWE Champion AJ Styles called out Shinsuke Nakamura, who didn’t answer his challenge. Rusev and Aiden English came out to challenge Styles.

WWE Champion AJ Styles def. Rusev via disqualification in a non-title match when English interfered. Daniel Bryan ran in for the save. SmackDown GM Paige booked Styles and Bryan vs. Rusev and English.

Absolution’s Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville are drafted to SmackDown.

The Miz returns to SmackDown Live next week:

WWE United States Champion and new SmackDown superstar Jeff Hardy def. Shelton Benjamin in a non-title match.

WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion Luke Harper def. Jey Uso (with Jimmy Uso). Uso’s real life wife Naomi pleaded with the Bludgeon Bros. to stop the beatdown after the match.

New SmackDown superstar Big Cass confronts Daniel Bryan backstage. I don’t think this is the feud fans were clamoring for when Bryan announced his comeback.

Samoa Joe makes his SmackDown Live debut by destroying Sin Cara and calling out Roman Reigns.

Former WWE NXT Tag Team Champions SAnitY set to bring chaos to SmackDown Live. Looks like Nikki Cross won’t be joining Eric Young, Killian Dain, and Alexander Wolfe on the main roster.

Andrade Cien Almas and Zelina Vega are drafted to the blue brand.

Carmella throws a ‘Mellabration for her SmackDown Women’s Title win that’s interrupted by chaos between Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and the IIconics Billie Kay and Peyton Royce!

Charlotte Flair inexplicably def. Billie Kay in the IIconics’ in-ring debut. Well, this booking made no sense. After the match, the IIconics and Carmella brawled with Flair and Lynch until new SmackDown pick Asuka ran in for the save.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are drafted to SmackDown. Poor Finn Balor left all alone and lost in the shuffle on Raw. For now anyway.

The Bar are also drafted to SmackDown, which hints at a Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy Raw Tag Team Title win at WWE Greatest Royal Rumble.

The New Day and Tye Dillinger run into R-Truth backstage:

WWE Champion AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan def. Rusev and Aiden English by DQ when Shinsuke Nakamura and Big Cass interfered. Nakamura landed his third low blow in three weeks on Styles and Bryan was hit with a Big Cass boot to end the show. Bryan vs. Cass with his SmackDown vs. Raw 2006 Create A Wrestler theme song? No thanks.

Overall, SmackDown seems to have gotten the better end of the Superstar Shake-up even if that means being subjected to a Big Cass main event program.
